Marriage in Qatar
Muslim Marriages
Muslim Marriages are performed at the Sharia Court, which is located on Al Rayyan Road near Mannai Ra in the Musheirib area. You must provide two witnesses for the marriage. Please note that the Sharia Court will only marry two muslims. For example, a marriage by a Muslim man to a Christian woman is performed by the Sharia courts of some Muslim countries but not in Qatar.
Non-Muslim Marriages
The State of Qatar allows non-Currently, the only non-Muslim marriages granted offical recognition by the State of Qatar are Christian marriages preformed by churches registered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and by clergy recognized by the Ministry to preform non-Muslim marriages.
To obtain a Christan marriage in the State of Qatar:
1. Contact the Anglican, Catholic, Coptic or Orthodox churches of Qatar for a marriage ceremony. Following the ceremony, the church will issue a marriage certificate.
Please note that some of the chruches may offer a for-fee service to complete the steps below on your behalf. The following steps do not require your personal appearance.
2. translate a copy of the marriage Certificate to Arabic through a translator recognized by the Qatar chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI). Please search the Business Library of the QCCI website at:

3. Register the marriage certificate and Arabic translation at the Office of Land Registration and Leagalization at the Ministry of Justice's office in West Bay. The Ministry will stamp the back of the marriage certificate with a reagistration number and keep the copy and Arabic translation for its records.
